Plant Care Tips: Crassula Jade
The Crassula Jade plant, a popular and iconic succulent, brings a touch of elegance and positivity to any space. Its thick, glossy leaves and easy-care make it one of our favorites. Here are some care tips to help your Crassula Jade thrive.
1. Location: Jade plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight. Place your Crassula Jade near a sunny window where it can receive several hours of indirect light each day.
2. Watering: Jade plants are drought-tolerant and prefer to be slightly underwatered rather than overwatered. Allow the top inch or two of the soil to dry out completely before watering. Stick your finger into the soil to gauge moisture levels. During the active growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, and reduce watering in the fall and winter.
3. Temperature: Jade plants like average room temperatures (~65-75°F). They can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be protected from frost.
4. Pruning and Propagation: Regular pruning is not necessary for Jade plants, however, you can trim off any leggy or overgrown stems to encourage a more compact growth habit. Jade plants are also relatively easy to propagate. Stem or leaf cuttings can be rooted in well-draining soil, and once they develop roots, they can be potted as new plants.
