Our Sustainability Efforts
Hi, we’re Arielle and Aviva!
We launched ReVased because we knew there was a more sustainable way
to enjoy flowers, and we wanted to share it with the world.
When we first started our business, we used to solely upcycle flowers, giving a “second life” to flowers from weddings and other large events. We would sell a portion of the flowers and donate the rest. When Covid hit, and events were cancelled overnight, our entire supply chain was cut-off. We had to pause operations and were not sure if/when/how we’d be able to start up again.
We thought about our goals for starting ReVased:
We wanted to share eco-friendly flowers, reduce waste, and give back to others.
We felt determined to stick to our goals, which has led us to build an even more efficient waste-reducing business model!
We now ship your flowers farm-direct. This means you get eco-friendly, farm-fresh (some may even be pre-bloom!), gorgeous stems!
By shipping from our sustainable-minded farm partners directly to you:
1) We reduce carbon emissions by facilitating fewer steps in the supply chain. While traditionally, flowers travel from farm → distributor → wholesaler → retailer → you, we ship “farm direct,” so the flowers make it directly to your door! We know that every shipment of anything leads to carbon emissions, so we offset these emissions to neutralize our shipping footprint and make our shipments carbon neutral!
2) In addition to reducing harmful emissions, our farm partners can cut fewer stems in the first place - as every stem cut for your bouquet arrives directly to you! Traditionally, up to 50% of cut flowers never even make it to their final destination before they are thrown out - either because they are damaged during transit or not sold in time.
3) And your flowers arrive fresher, as they have spent less time in transit!
!
We’re also proud to source from sustainable-minded farms and greenhouses in the U.S. and South America. The flower farms we work with have achieved Rainforest Alliance Certification, Fairtrade Certification , or take other rigorous steps for environmental, economic, and social sustainability. This includes protecting forests and natural wildlife habitats; promoting farmers’ human rights and safe, decent working conditions; conserving water and soil; and helping to lessen the burden of the climate crisis.
In addition to shipping to our customers farm-direct, now that events have started up again, we help event hosts
upcycle their post-event flowers and donate them to non-profits! We love hearing from event hosts who want to give their flowers a second life and spread the floral love to folks who can use a boost. (Check out our ReVased Non-Profit Floral Donation Directory here!)
Thanks for following along as we grow and evolve!
